Problem of Space Debris

In order to bring more conveniences to people of the Earth, demand for microsatellites has been greatly increasing in recent years. Yet after their operation are accomplished, these satellites are left on orbit and become "space debris" that often draw serious calamities around the Earth. Thus, resolving this space-debris problem is an urgent issue to protect future life of all people.

DOM® Membrane-deployable orbital debris removal device for small satellites

Achievement

the De-orbit Mechanism, was developed as a device that departs the satellite from orbit after the operation. We jointly developed this product with Tohoku University as a countermeasure against space debris, which is currently considered a problem. (Developed patent acquired in 2014) DOM's space demonstration satellite "FREEDOM" was developed and launched into orbit in January 2017.

Would you like to install
DOM on your satellite?

It is recommended that a satellite leave its orbit within five years after its mission ends.
The development of the main satellite, the mission equipment, and the orbit departure device require considerable cost and time.
DOM can solve such problems. Installation is basically bolt-on. For 50kg class satellites, it can be mounted inside the separation mechanism.
We will deliver the product after clearing the various required tests. Please feel free to contact us.

In October 2020, we entered into a general agency agreement with Space BD Co., Ltd. for DOM®.
